This is a short guide to papier mâché sculpture. The aim of this book is to inspire you and instruct you. Papier mâché is an enjoyable, versatile and inexpensive way of creating simple objects right up to elaborate works of art.

In the book I show you how to create a "juggling" clown sculpture. For this project I have used traditional and contemporary papier mâché methods, with the aim to recycle as much household refuse as possible. Most of the materials and equipment I have used are low cost or free and can be found in and around the home. This is a marvelous way to recycle your waste and other useless bits and pieces.

The project is illustrated with step-by-step instructions. The clown is constructed using newspaper, bottles, a tin, a jar, foil, paper, cardboard and balls. Other items can also be used or adapted for this. This is primarily an adult craft project, but could be undertaken by older children under supervision.

I have been creating papier mâché objects for many years. I particularly like making people sculptures. My first book "How to make a papier mache sculpture" shows you how to construct a papier mache plump lady in a swim suit.

The clown uses more recycled materials than the plump lady and is constructed in a completely different and unique way. I hope you enjoy reading it.
